Job posting: AMBP projects coordinator

The Association of Manitoba Book Publishers (AMBP) is seeking a Projects Coordinator. This position organizes marketing and outreach projects that support Manitoba publishers and the books they publish and provides administrative assistance to the Executive Director of the AMBP. 

This is an entry level position suitable for a recent post-secondary graduate or a professional person who has the skills and aptitude relevant to marketing, public relations, or communications. The Projects Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.


  • Organize joint outreach projects to promote Manitoba-published books including on-line events, webinars, promotional campaigns and in-person activities;
  • Coordinate the AMBP’s presence at tradeshows and conferences, and attend as required;
  • Utilize your creativity to work with graphic designers, copy writers, translators and publishers (as required) to generate print materials, videos, and web content for new and existing marketing campaigns;
  • Implement the AMBP’s social media plans and monitor social media accounts;
  • Support writers and the public by answering questions about the process of getting published and on Manitoba books;
  • Research, write and update content for the AMBP’s web sites;
  • Support and assist with the AMBP’s role in the Manitoba Book Awards/ Les Prix du livre du Manitoba which includes both the administration and facilitation of 5 peer-juried book award prizes and working co-operatively with project partners;
  • Research and plan engaging professional development sessions;
  • Write, compile and distribute members’ updates and outreach newsletters;
  • Assist in administrative tasks including recording minutes, researching grant applications, conducting follow-up surveys on projects, collaborating on documents and more; 
  • Support and participate in AMBP sub-committees;
  • Work co-operatively with AMBP staff, members, freelancers and other colleagues;
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, within the scope of the position. 


  • Excellent time management, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Understanding of marketing principles and customer service practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 


  • Bachelor’sDegreeinMarketing,Communications,orrelatedexperience
  • 1-3 years required experience in marketing
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated social media skills and the ability to use specialized software tools to create, update, and add additional web content as required.
  • Experience working with email communication platforms such as Mailchimp and file-sharing platforms such as Dropbox and Google Docs
  • Experience with digital advertising platforms such as Google Ads and social media advertising
  • Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Adobe Creative Suite / Photoshop / In-design experience considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset


  • This is a 28 hour per week staff position
  • The Projects Coordinator will be paid $15 an hour and is eligible for a benefits package, after a probationary period
  • Some remote work may be expected due to COVID-19 or other circumstances
  • Some evening, weekend and off-site work will be required
  • Some travel may be required. 
  • Start date of late July or August 2020
